On Monday, Additional Deputy Commissioner P Shivaraj emphasized the need to extend maximum support to the families of farmers who have died by suicide. Chairing a district-level task force meeting, he instructed officials to hold meetings every 15 days to address and resolve farmer-centric issues.
Shivaraj directed that officials should visit the bereaved families within 24 hours of a suicide incident to ensure a prompt and effective response. This includes providing financial aid, scholarships for the education of children, and issuing Ayushman Bharat health insurance cards. Additional measures such as sanctioning widow pensions and arranging for hostels have also been recommended to support these families.
The district administration aims to address and alleviate the challenges faced by the families of deceased farmers through these comprehensive support mechanisms.
