Ajman: Gulf Medical University (GMU), Ajman, celebrated its 22nd Convocation on 19 November 2025, with His Highness Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of the Ajman Executive Council, witnessing the graduation of 630 students from diverse healthcare disciplines.

A milestone celebration at Thumbay Grounds

The ceremony, held at Thumbay Grounds in Thumbay Medicity, was attended by families, faculty, healthcare leaders and dignitaries. Graduates from medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, physiotherapy, healthcare management and allied health sciences received their degrees, followed by the administration of the Graduate Oath.

A special presentation, “GMU at a Glance,” showcased the university’s expanding academic, clinical and research ecosystem.

Leadership praises graduates and GMU’s growing academic ecosystem

Presiding over the ceremony, Dr Thumbay Moideen, Founder President of Thumbay Group, congratulated graduates and highlighted GMU’s continued growth within Thumbay Medicity, supported by advanced teaching hospitals, research centres and cutting-edge simulation facilities.

Prof. Manda Venkatramana, Chancellor of GMU, commended the graduates’ perseverance and thanked parents, faculty and clinical mentors for shaping globally competent healthcare professionals.

Honorary doctorates and professorships conferred

GMU conferred Honorary Doctorates on H.E. Mirza Al Sayegh and Mr Feroz Allana, recognising their contributions to society.

Four distinguished medical leaders were awarded Honorary Professorships:
• Dr Samih Tarabichi
• Dr Abdulla Al Khayat
• Dr Abdulrahim Mustafawi
• Dr Humaid Al Shamsi

The honours celebrated their achievements in advancing academic medicine, clinical excellence and healthcare innovation.

Strengthening the global healthcare workforce

GMU reaffirmed its commitment to practical, industry-linked healthcare education. Students will continue hands-on training across the Thumbay Academic Health System — including Thumbay University Hospital, Thumbay Dental Hospital, Thumbay Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Hospital, and long-term care facilities — serving diverse patient communities across the region.

As the Class of 2025 embarks on careers in leading global medical institutions and research centres, the convocation highlighted GMU’s role in shaping the future of healthcare.

The event concluded with remarks from the Student Council President and the formal dissolution of the convocation.
