Mysuru: The Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) Permanent Teachers’ Association secretary, HK Jagdish Babu, made serious allegations on Thursday regarding the alleged tampering of documents and improper proceedings during the university’s 180th Board of Management (BoM) meeting on October 8. Babu claimed that 36 teaching staff members were promoted without following the proper procedures or holding necessary discussions.
Babu called on the state government and the governor-chancellor’s office to intervene to protect the students’ interests. He accused the university administration of falsifying attendance records, showing absent BoM members as present during the meeting. According to Babu, despite members expressing dissent over the agenda, the administration rushed to issue promotion orders retroactively, which resulted in significant financial gains and arrears for the staff involved.
In a press conference, Babu revealed that he had submitted formal complaints to the governor, Lokayukta, and the police, requesting an immediate investigation. He shared that the online meeting footage exposed the absence of several members, including MLAs K Harishgowda, D Ravishankar, and MLC BG Patil (Kalaburagi), who were marked as present. Additionally, he alleged that the agenda related to CAS (Career Advancement Scheme) promotions was neither placed nor discussed during the meeting.
