Mangaluru: St. Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Mangaluru, hosted the grand inaugural ceremony of Milan 2026, a vibrant cultural extravaganza celebrating diversity, creativity, and student talent, on April 10, 2026, at the college campus.

The campus came alive with colourful artwork and decorations created by students, setting an energetic and festive tone for the day-long celebrations.
Colourful inauguration and vibrant performances
The programme commenced at 9:30 am with the unveiling of the Milan 2026 logo, followed by an energetic flash mob that marked the beginning of the festivities.

Students showcased cultural diversity through a variety of dance performances, music, and engaging activities. The Guest of Honour, Ms. Remona Evette Pereira, popularly known as the “Golden Girl of Mangaluru,” captivated the audience with her classical performance, adding charm and excitement to the event.

Celebration of culture and creativity
Students dressed in vibrant traditional attire reflecting diverse cultures, contributing to the lively atmosphere. The event highlighted the rich cultural heritage and artistic talents of the student community.
A series of competitions and events were organised throughout the day, including Rangvista, Khazana Rush, Namma Reel, Varnam, Aalekhya, Rooh-E-Riwaaaz, Peeli, Riwaayat-e-Rasoi, Mayura Vandana, Swaragini, Mehrang, and Ruparekha.
Evening highlights and entertainment
The celebrations continued into the evening with cultural performances, a Chende fusion act, and a DJ session by Team Bassphase, drawing enthusiastic participation from students.

The event was graced by Rev. Fr. Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Director; Rev. Fr. Kenneth Ryner Crasta, Assistant Director; Dr. Rio D’Souza, Principal; and Dr. Jyothi K., Dean – Student Welfare.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Prathima S, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, and Mr. Chitharanjan M, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, along with the organising team.
The inaugural ceremony was compered by Ms. Kavya and Mr. Jaden, while Ms. Thrapthi and Ms. Aarsha Varghese conducted the fun activities following the inauguration.
