Mangaluru: The School of Engineering, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) organised a two-day session under the ‘Deeksharambha’ induction programme for first-year B.Tech students on July 27 and 28 at LF Rasquinha Hall, LCRI Block.
The programme was aimed at familiarising students with the expectations of engineering education while equipping them with essential leadership and industry-oriented skills.
Expert highlights leadership and AI skills
The resource person for the session was Dr. Saji Abraham, Director of Operations, Tata, Bengaluru, who addressed students on the theme “Lead, Integrate, Follow, Excel.”
In his session, Dr. Abraham highlighted the importance of leadership, adaptability, teamwork, and continuous learning in building successful professional careers.
He also spoke about the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across industries and encouraged students to develop AI literacy alongside problem-solving, communication, and practical skills to remain relevant in an evolving job market.
Emphasising the need for continuous learning, he advised students to strengthen their technical competencies, build project portfolios, gain industry exposure, and regularly upgrade their knowledge to meet future career challenges.
University leadership guides programme
The induction programme was conducted under the guidance of Rev. Dr. Praveen Martis SJ, Vice-Chancellor, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University); Dr. Ruban S., Dean, School of Engineering; and Dr. Geetha Pinto, Associate Dean, School of Engineering and Co-convener of the programme.
The event was coordinated by Ms. Ashwija A., Ms. Nishmitha M. R., Mr. Gaurav Prasad, and Dr. Aldrin Vaz.
The Deeksharambha induction programme is designed to help first-year students transition smoothly into university life while encouraging academic excellence, professional development, and holistic growth.
