A man, who previously claimed to have worked as an engineer in a tech company, was recently discovered begging on the streets of Bengaluru. His story first gained attention through three viral videos shared on Instagram by @sharath_yuvaraja_official over a week ago. In the first video, the man, wearing a red T-shirt and looking disheveled, stated that he had worked as an engineer at a prominent tech consulting firm located in Global Village Tech Park (now Sattva Global City) near Mysuru Road before quitting his job.

The man revealed in the videos that he had turned to drinking after the death of his parents, leading to his current life of begging. His videos, which quickly went viral, have garnered sympathy and support from online viewers. In one video, the man is seen rambling about topics like meditation, the works of philosopher David Hume, Albert Einstein’s contributions, and the brain’s hippocampus and amygdala. In the third video, he mentions having been to Frankfurt in 2013 before eventually relocating to Bengaluru.

A follower of the Instagram account claimed to have spotted him in a drunken state a few days earlier near JSS College Road in Jayanagar, and in another part of the city. The man reportedly declined any offers to be taken to a shelter or support center. Sharath, the Instagram user who posted the videos, followed up with updates, stating that he had contacted an NGO for help. However, according to a recorded conversation with a doctor, no NGO would assist him without police intervention.
