Mumbai: Actress Navika Kotia, known for her role as Sridevi’s daughter in the 2012 movie ‘English Vinglish,’ is gearing up to portray Kesar in the upcoming television series ‘Kyunki… Saas Maa, Bahu Beti Hoti Hai.’
The character Kesar, as described by the creators, is “ambitious” and adept at balancing her personal aspirations with those of her family. She embodies a resilient “never give up” attitude.
Expressing her excitement about the show, Navika stated, “I’m elated to have secured my first leading role as Kesar in the progressive series ‘Kyunki… Saas Maa, Bahu Beti Hoti Hai.’ Kesar, my character, is someone who adeptly manages the equilibrium between family and career. Her unyielding determination resonates with my own approach to life.”
Set in Gujarat during a lively Navratri celebration, the story delves into the Rajgaur family of Surat, where turmoil arises when the youngest daughter-in-law, Hetal, seeks separation, challenging the conventional role of a daughter-in-law. This unforeseen twist greatly upsets Ambika, the eldest daughter-in-law and matriarch of the Rajgaur dynasty, as her primary goal has always been to uphold family unity.
Driven by an ardent desire to counter her sister-in-law Hetal’s belief that “A mother can never be a mother-in-law, and a daughter-in-law can never be a daughter,” Ambika takes a groundbreaking step. She adopts little Kesar, a baby left at the doorstep of their family orphanage, and pledges to raise her not as a daughter but as a daughter-in-law.
Navika continued, “Upon learning about the script and character details, I realized that this was precisely what I’ve been seeking. The script is truly captivating, and the cast and crew are exceptionally talented. ‘Kyunki… Saas Maa, Bahu Beti Hoti Hai’ is slated to premiere on September 18th on Zee TV.
