Mumbai [Maharashtra]: Filmmaker Farah Khan has finally addressed the social media buzz surrounding her and Deepika Padukone unfollowing each other on Instagram. Speaking to Pinkvilla, Farah clarified that the two were never following each other on Instagram and explained the context behind her 8-hour workday comment.
Farah revealed that she and Deepika had a pact during the Happy New Year shoot, agreeing not to communicate via Instagram. “We had made a pact during the Happy New Year shoot that we wouldn’t communicate on Instagram, instead, direct message and call. We don’t even wish birthday wishes on Insta because Deepika doesn’t like it,” she explained.
The 8-hour workday comment
Addressing reports that her 8-hour workday remark was a dig at Deepika, Farah clarified, “My 8-hour comment wasn’t a dig; it was to make Dilip say that he will now also work 8 hours when he actually works just for 2 hours!” She also shared some personal anecdotes, highlighting that she was one of the first few people to visit Deepika after the birth of her daughter, Dua, and emphasised that not everything is done for Instagram or the paparazzi.
Fun moments with Rohit Saraf and Dilip
Farah Khan also recounted a recent visit to actor Rohit Saraf’s house with her husband Dilip. She joked about Rohit’s mother appearing on camera for the first time after making them wait a year. During the visit, Dilip asked when Deepika would appear on their vlog. Farah replied humorously, highlighting Deepika’s busy schedule:
“Deepika Padukone now shoots only for 8 hours a day and doesn’t have time for our show.” She added, “Jiss din tu gaon jaayega naa uss din aayegi (the day you go to your village).”
Context on Deepika Padukone’s schedule
Deepika recently made headlines after being dropped from Kalki 2, following her earlier exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit. Reports suggested her demands—including eight-hour workdays, high pay, and a share in profits—did not sit well with the directors.
Farah’s remarks aim to put the record straight, showing that their social media unfollowing does not indicate a personal rift but is rather a mutual agreement, combined with humour and anecdotes from their personal lives.
