Recently, actor-director Dhanush and director Aishwarya Rajinikanth filed for divorce in the Chennai family court. IndiaToday.in was informed by sources close to the couple that they have filed for divorce under Section 13 B, which allows for divorce by mutual consent. In January 2022, the two made their decision to separate public. Their announcement at the time stunned their fan base to no end.
The two submitted divorce by consent petitions over a year and a half later. Their case will be heard shortly. For the previous two years, the two have lived apart. Following the announcement, they were spotted at school functions for their sons, Yatra and Linga.
On X, Dhanush declared their split on January 17, 2022. Following eighteen years of marriage, the couple divorced.
“Eighteen years together as friends, a couple, parents, and well-wishers to each other,” his statement said. It has been a journey of learning, development, and adaptation. We have come to a point where our paths diverge today. I’ve made the decision to split up with Aishwaryaa in order to give ourselves more time to grow as people.

Aishwarya posted a comparable message on her social media accounts. In order to process their separation, the two asked for privacy.
In 2004, at the ages of 21 and 23, respectively, Dhanush and Aishwarya tied the knot in an elaborate ceremony. Yatra and Linga, the couple’s two sons, are now their parents.
Dhanush and Aishwarya have focused on their individual careers since their split. With “Lal Salaam,” Aishwarya returned to directing, and Rajinikanth made a lengthy cameo appearance. Dhanush also wished the movie a happy birthday.
Work-wise, Dhanush has been busy with a slew of acting assignments and his directorial ventures. His upcoming film is his second directorial flick, ‘Raayan’.
