Chennai: Rajinikanth‘s Jailer 2 continued its impressive run at the box office on Saturday, October 31, recording a 70% jump in domestic net collections compared with the previous day. The film earned Rs 9.35 crore net in India on its 17th day in theatres, taking its total domestic net collection to Rs 444.75 crore.
According to Sacnilk, the film’s India gross collection has reached Rs 520.35 crore, while its worldwide gross stands at Rs 790.85 crore. With its global earnings approaching Rs 791 crore, the film has maintained strong momentum in its third week despite facing the usual slowdown associated with a theatrical release’s later stages.
The Tamil version remained the biggest contributor to Saturday’s domestic earnings, with Tamil Nadu continuing to lead the state-wise collections.
Jailer 2 records 70% jump on day 17
Jailer 2 collected Rs 9.35 crore net in India on Saturday, marking a 70% increase over Friday’s Rs 5.50 crore. The rise indicates that the film continued to attract audiences during its third weekend.
The film recorded 8,738 shows across India on Day 17, with an estimated 6,92,764 tickets sold. Its cumulative ticket sales have crossed the three-crore mark, reaching 3,00,11,397 tickets during its theatrical run.
The domestic gross collection has also moved beyond Rs 500 crore, reaching Rs 520.35 crore. The net collection, after accounting for applicable deductions, stands at Rs 444.75 crore.
The film’s overseas performance has contributed significantly to its worldwide total. It earned another Rs 3 crore from international markets on Saturday, taking its cumulative overseas gross to Rs 270.50 crore.
With domestic and overseas earnings combined, the worldwide gross collection has reached Rs 790.85 crore.
Tamil version leads language-wise collections
The Tamil version remained the strongest performer among the four language releases on Saturday. It collected Rs 6.70 crore from 4,199 shows across India.
The Hindi version contributed Rs 1.45 crore through 3,549 screenings, while the Telugu version added Rs 90 lakh from 801 shows. The Kannada version earned Rs 30 lakh across 189 screenings.
The language-wise figures underline the continued importance of the Tamil market to the film’s overall performance. The original-language version accounted for the largest share of Saturday’s collections, while the dubbed versions added to its reach across other regions.
The film’s occupancy figures also showed stronger audience interest in the Tamil version, particularly during evening and night screenings.
Tamil version records highest occupancy
Among the four language versions, the Tamil release recorded the highest overall occupancy on Saturday at 30.37%.
Its morning shows registered 17.46% occupancy, which increased to 29.92% during afternoon screenings. Evening shows recorded 31.54%, while night shows reported the highest occupancy at 42.54%.
The Hindi version registered an overall occupancy of 15.28%. Its morning shows recorded 11.42%, followed by 11.33% in the afternoon and 13.92% in the evening. Night screenings performed better, with occupancy reaching 23.08%.
The Telugu version recorded an overall occupancy of 23.28%, with night shows registering 29.90%.
These figures suggest that evening and night screenings continued to attract a larger share of audiences, particularly for the Tamil release. The stronger night-show occupancy also helped support the film’s Saturday collections.
Jailer 2’s third-week performance
The film’s overall domestic earnings remain substantial even after entering its third week in theatres.
During its first eight days, Jailer 2 collected Rs 334.35 crore net and Rs 391.55 crore gross in India. Its second week added another Rs 95.55 crore net and Rs 111.50 crore gross.
The second-week collection represented a 71.4% decline compared with the opening period. Such a drop reflects the difference between the initial release phase and the subsequent weeks, when films generally depend on sustained audience interest and weekend footfall.
However, Jailer 2 has continued to add to its total in the third week. During the first two days of its third week, it collected Rs 14.85 crore net and Rs 17.30 crore gross domestically.
Saturday’s Rs 9.35 crore net collection provided a further boost, taking the domestic net total to Rs 444.75 crore.
The film’s ability to attract audiences across multiple language versions has helped it maintain its position at the box office. Its overseas earnings have also played an important role in pushing the worldwide total towards the Rs 800-crore mark.
Jailer 2 outperforms Coolie at the same stage
A comparison with Rajinikanth’s previous release, Coolie, highlights the difference in the box office performance of the two films.
At the corresponding stage of its theatrical run, Coolie had collected Rs 276 crore net and Rs 322.40 crore gross in India. Its worldwide gross stood at Rs 499.40 crore, including Rs 177 crore from overseas markets.
On Day 17, Coolie earned Rs 2.80 crore net from 3,998 shows across India. Its Tamil version contributed Rs 1.95 crore from 1,790 screenings.
The Telugu version collected Rs 45 lakh through 918 shows, while the Hindi version added Rs 36 lakh from 1,209 screenings. The Kannada version earned Rs 4 lakh across 81 shows.
The film’s overseas collection on that day stood at Rs 50 lakh. Its average collection per show was reported at Rs 7,004.
In comparison, Jailer 2 has recorded considerably higher domestic and worldwide collections at the same stage of its theatrical run. Its domestic net collection of Rs 444.75 crore is substantially ahead of Coolie’s Rs 276 crore at the corresponding point.
The difference is also visible in overseas earnings. Jailer 2 has accumulated Rs 270.50 crore from international markets, compared with the Rs 177 crore reported for Coolie.
Tamil Nadu remains the biggest contributor
Tamil Nadu continued to be the largest contributor to Jailer 2’s domestic box office earnings on Saturday.
The state recorded Rs 5.25 crore in gross collections, accounting for 48.2% of the tracked domestic gross of Rs 10.90 crore.
Karnataka contributed Rs 2 crore, while Andhra Pradesh and Telangana together added Rs 1 crore. Kerala also recorded Rs 1 crore in collections.
The remaining domestic markets collectively contributed Rs 1.65 crore.
The figures show the strength of the film’s performance in Tamil Nadu, where Rajinikanth continues to command a significant theatrical audience. Karnataka’s Rs 2-crore contribution also made it an important market for the film on Saturday.
Jailer 2 approaches the Rs 800-crore worldwide mark
With its worldwide gross at Rs 790.85 crore, Jailer 2 is now close to crossing the Rs 800-crore milestone. Its strong Saturday performance, supported by a 70% increase in domestic net collections, has given the film another boost during its third week.
The Tamil version continues to lead the domestic market, while overseas earnings have helped take the worldwide total closer to the next major milestone.
The comparison with Coolie further underlines the film’s performance at the same stage of its theatrical run. However, its final box office total will depend on how well it sustains collections in the coming days.
