Chandrashekhar Siddi, a well-known Kannada comedian and former contestant of the reality show Comedy Kiladigalu, has tragically died by suicide. The incident occurred while he was at a house in a forest area for work, accompanied by his wife. A case has been registered at the Yellapur police station.
Siddi hailed from Yellapur taluk in Uttara Kannada district and rose to popularity through his performances on the television show. He was also trained in theatre at the prestigious NINASAM institute and practiced yoga, reflecting a deep engagement with both performance and wellness.
Despite gaining recognition and a strong fan base, Siddi struggled to find consistent opportunities in the Kannada entertainment industry after the show ended. Faced with ongoing unemployment, he was working as a labourer in his hometown to make ends meet.
According to reports, depression had taken a serious toll on his mental health. He had reportedly shared with someone close to him that he felt mocked and targeted by others — feelings that worsened his emotional state. Although he had been undergoing medical treatment for his condition, the pressures appeared to have overwhelmed him.
His untimely death has sparked sorrow within the Kannada entertainment community, with fans and peers mourning the loss of a talented performer whose career never received the opportunities it deserved.
The incident underscores the urgent need for better mental health support and sustainable opportunities for regional artists post-reality show fame.
