The Konkani film Payann celebrated its 100-day screening milestone at Bharat Cinema in Bejai, marking a proud moment for regional cinema. The event highlighted the film’s contribution to promoting Konkani language and culture.
Member of the Legislative Council Ivan D’Souza praised the creators for their dedication, noting that Payann inspires positivity and sets a new benchmark in Konkani cinema. He emphasized the importance of supporting films produced out of love for the mother tongue, despite challenges faced by regional cinema.
The celebration was graced by Fr. Melwin Joseph Pinto of St Aloysius Educational Institutions, businessman James Mendonca, and Mand Sobhann president Louis J Pinto. Payann director Joel Pereira, alongside Melwyn and Neeta Peris of Sangeet Ghar Productions, shared the joyous occasion.
