In the latest episode of Shark Tank India 4, Hyderabad-based health brand Moderate made an impression with its flagship product, Calorie Crusher Tablets. Founded by Sreeram Reddy Vanga, Dr. Lalitha Palle, and Kartikeya Kabra, the startup aims to help food lovers manage calorie and carbohydrate absorption while staying fit. The founders initially pitched for ₹50 lakh in exchange for 1.25% equity.
As the pitch unfolded, Anupam Mittal and Lalitha Palle had an intense discussion about the product’s scientific claims. Kunal Bahl warned, “Your product will be scrutinized as soon as the episode airs.” Meanwhile, Vineeta Singh and Peyush Bansal opted out due to concerns over potential side effects.
Anupam Mittal found the concept “heavy,” while Aman Gupta joked, “Thanks for the science class! As a commerce student, I learned a lot.” Despite skepticism, he saw potential in Lalitha and offered ₹50 lakh for 2.5% equity. Kunal, liking the name but not the packaging, made a ₹1 crore offer for 5% equity.
After negotiations, the founders countered for 4% equity, but ultimately, the deal closed at ₹1 crore for 5%, with both Aman and Kunal joining as investors.
