New Series Delves Into the Untold Aspects of Veerappan's Life

An upcoming docuseries, ‘The Hunt for Veerappan,’ directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, aims to explore the untold stories and lesser-known facets of the infamous Indian outlaw turned domestic terrorist, Veerappan. This four-part series promises to shed light on the intriguing life and actions of Veerappan, offering viewers a unique and comprehensive perspective on his life and criminal activities.

The release of the teaser has been instrumental in creating a wave of anticipation and intriguing the audience. The documentary takes viewers on a journey back in time to introduce them to Veerappan, one of India’s most notorious criminals. Known as the “Robinhood of India,” Veerappan wielded significant influence, holding two states-Tamil Nadu and Karnataka-under his sway.

The docu-series takes an in-depth look into the life and actions of Veerappan, as well as the relentless pursuit by law enforcement to capture him. The teaser confirms director Selvamani Selvaraj’s claim that the documentary uncovers previously untold stories and unexplored aspects of Veerappan’s life. Unveiling Veerappan: A Gripping Tale of Pursuit and Turmoil This series chronicles the rise and fall of Veerappan, a feared smuggler whose violent reign sparked a 20-year-long manhunt in southern India. Produced by Apoorva Bakshi, Monisha Thyagarajan, and Kimberley Hassett, the series features the expertise of Apoorva Bakshi, a producer of the International Emmy award-winning show ‘Delhi Crime,’ and Hassett, the co-producer of ‘Bikram: Yogi,’ ‘Guru,’ ‘Predator.’

The series explores concealed and lesser-known aspects, featuring firsthand accounts from individuals closely linked to Veerappan and those who relentlessly pursued him. From illuminating the challenges faced by authorities in capturing him to providing insights into the political and social disparities in society, the documentary unveils the intriguing tale of Veerappan and the ensuing chaos. ‘The Hunt for Veerappan’ is now available on the streaming platform Netflix.
