Despite facing multiple box office setbacks in recent years, veteran Telugu filmmaker Puri Jagannadh isn’t ready to quit. After the disappointing performances of Liger and Double iSmart, many believed his directorial career was fading. However, he’s made a strong comeback by launching a new social drama featuring acclaimed Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi and National Award-winning star Tabu.

In a surprising twist, Mahati Swara Sagar, son of legendary composer Mani Sharma, has been brought on board to score the music. Though Mahati hasn’t delivered any hits recently—his last work, Bholaa Shankar, failed to impress—his inclusion has sparked curiosity in industry circles and online. Notably, Puri had a long, successful association with Mahati’s father, having worked together on blockbusters like iSmart Shankar.

Reports suggest that the movie, currently under production, will be wrapped up in two months. Mahati has already composed two tracks and is now crafting the background score.

Tabu will portray a villainous character, a major highlight in this socially charged story. Renowned for her powerful performances in films like Drishyam and Ninne Pelladata, her negative role in this project is expected to be a game-changer.

Puri’s new venture, co-produced with Charmee, promises to deliver a satirical yet impactful message, with Vijay Sethupathi in a commanding lead role. The film is being made on a modest budget, with further updates anticipated soon.
