Superstar Shah Rukh Khan turned 60 on November 2, 2025, and celebrated the milestone with thousands of fans at a grand event held in a Mumbai auditorium. The occasion also marked the unveiling of the much-awaited first glimpse of his upcoming action drama King, which instantly set social media abuzz.

The event, filled with cheers, laughter, and heartfelt fan moments, saw Shah Rukh interact candidly with his audience, sharing insights into King and opening up about his collaboration with director Siddharth Anand and co-star Deepika Padukone.

SRK reveals Deepika Padukone’s role in King

While addressing fans about the film’s storyline, Shah Rukh Khan said he didn’t want to reveal too much too soon. “I don’t want to give out too much of the story of King. Once more and more assets come up, you’ll know more about the film. There are several characters in the film. The idea behind the film is that we end up taking big decisions when we take things personally. We should think whether what we are doing is right or not,” he explained.

He added that King is designed to be thought-provoking, with no clear moral division. “We are not going to take any sides in King. If you like our thought, then do follow it. Ya fir bura hi karte rehna!” he said, drawing laughter from the crowd.

During the interaction, a fan shouted that they had a lot of pyaar for him. With his trademark charm, SRK quipped, “Mere saath film mein Deepika Padukone bhi hai. Pyaar toh zaroor hoga!” confirming that the Pathaan pair would reunite once again.

On working with Siddharth Anand again

Shah Rukh also spoke highly of director Siddharth Anand, who helmed Pathaan (2023) and is now directing King. “Siddharth is a very, very organised director. I learned a lot. I didn’t know how to play an action hero before that. I have done a couple of action films, but when a director directs you and tells you certain things while you’re trying to do a scene, you have to be smart enough to understand and take it from him,” he said.

Reflecting on his journey of reinventing himself as an action hero, SRK credited Anand for helping him shape a new kind of on-screen persona. “I have never done ‘hero-hero’ massy films—maybe Karan Arjun (1995). Baazigar (1993) was a very evil character. Hence, whatever Sid told me, I imbibed that. It helped me do what I did in Jawan (2023),” he added.

“Siddharth understood the hero I wanted to create”

Speaking about his evolving collaboration with the filmmaker, SRK said, “We have become friends now as we’ve been working together for two to three years. He understood how I’d like to create a new kind of macho hero. Also, he’s a very aesthetic director. Bahut sundar banata hai film ko.”

Fans at the event erupted in applause as the teaser for King played, offering glimpses of high-octane action, sleek visuals, and Shah Rukh’s commanding screen presence. The film, directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, marks another milestone in SRK’s post-Pathaan and Jawan phase, where he continues to reinvent himself as a larger-than-life action star.
