Mumbai: Two snakes were found entwined beneath a shed in the garden area of Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan’s Mumbai residence, Mannat, on the evening of August 17, prompting a search by snake rescuers and forest officials.

The reptiles were spotted at around 8 pm at the Bandra West bungalow, following which snake rescuer Vicky Dubey was called to the premises.

One snake safely rescued

Dubey informed Forest Department Round Officer Deepak Dada Gaikwad and the Mumbai Range Office controller in Thane after reaching the residence.

He managed to safely capture one of the snakes, which measured around 8 feet in length. The reptile was identified as a Dhaman, or Indian Rat Snake, a non-venomous species.

According to the information available, the rescued snake does not pose a threat to humans.

Second snake escapes during rescue

The second snake managed to escape as people gathered around the area. Its disappearance prompted concern among Mannat’s security personnel and household members.

A search of the premises continued until late into the night as rescuers and officials attempted to locate the missing reptile. However, the second snake could not be found despite the search.

The incident brought attention to the presence of snakes in residential premises, particularly in garden areas where reptiles can sometimes seek shelter. Officials and rescuers continued efforts to ensure the safety of people at the property while attempting to locate the escaped snake.
