What makes the Chosen so different from other shows at the theater is that this one is not a movie but a TV show.
Yet, Angel Studios has made it clear to its audience that the reason for this show is not so much the money but for the purpose of getting the audiences to encounter Jesus.
This, we see from how the show is available for free, where some viewers fund for audiences who can watch the series in the comfort of their home. In other words the series follows a ‘pay it forward’ method, where viewers who can afford to pay for some others who cannot, do say, with an aim of getting all people to watch the show and encounter Jesus, be it at the theater or at home on a lazy Sunday.
Yes, despite this, if you still haven’t watched the series, you need some inspiration from chosen fans who still flock to theaters, making shows that happen there a big hit.
The latest release of Chosen 4’s first three episodes have amassed $7.3 million, while the finale of season 3 in the last year brought about a total of $3.4 million. Season 4 brought out the highest box office numbers in the weekend from the 2300 theaters that the show was aired at.
Fans are not willing to wait for the show’s release but are willing to pay extra to watch the show in theaters for a whole three hours and 27 minutes.
All this has only gone on to make Chosen the largest crowdfunding project that one can come across in history, despite all the controversy that the director at Angel Studios, Dallas Jenkins, constantly puts up with for his portrayal of Jesus and his disciples in the series.
Yet, in the end, we have to agree that the stories here are innovative and the characters have a kind of depth that makes it impossible for a viewer to not feel involved in the scenes.
