Hyderabad: The Telangana government has granted permission for a temporary ticket price hike and special premiere shows for Peddi, starring Ram Charan, providing a major boost to the film just ahead of its theatrical release.
The decision aligns Telangana with neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, which had earlier approved similar measures for the much-anticipated sports action drama. The move is expected to enhance the film’s box office prospects during its opening run.
Revised ticket pricing and special premieres
According to the government order, single-screen theatres across Telangana can increase ticket prices by ₹100, while multiplexes are allowed a hike of ₹125, inclusive of GST. These revised rates will be applicable for a limited period of 10 days from the film’s release.
In addition, theatres have been permitted to hold special premiere shows on June 3, with ticket prices set at ₹600. These early screenings are expected to attract significant fan turnout, particularly given Ram Charan’s massive popularity.

The approval came after the film’s producers sought permission from both Telugu states to revise pricing and conduct premiere shows. While Andhra Pradesh had cleared the proposal earlier, Telangana’s nod came just hours before release.
Strong advance booking response
Even before hitting theatres, Peddi has shown promising traction at the box office through advance bookings. Trade reports indicate that the film has collected approximately ₹5.39 crore in India for its opening day bookings, excluding blocked seats.
Globally, advance sales have crossed ₹12 crore, driven largely by strong demand in overseas markets, especially in North America. The numbers reflect high anticipation surrounding the film and signal a strong opening weekend.
Star cast and production details
Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, Peddi features an ensemble cast led by Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor. The film also stars Shiva Rajkumar and Jagapathi Babu in key roles.
The sports action drama is scheduled for a nationwide theatrical release on June 4, with paid premiere shows planned across the Telugu-speaking states and select international markets a day earlier.
Boost to box office prospects
The approval for higher ticket pricing and special shows is likely to significantly boost the film’s initial revenue. Such measures are often granted to big-budget, star-driven films to help maximise early earnings and capitalise on fan enthusiasm.
For Peddi, which has already generated strong buzz, the decision could translate into a robust opening and set the tone for its box office run.
Conclusion
With government backing in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, coupled with strong advance bookings, Peddi is poised for a powerful start at the box office. The combination of star power, strategic release planning and favourable pricing permissions could play a crucial role in shaping the film’s commercial success in its opening days.
