Vijay Deverakonda’s much-anticipated action drama Kingdom opened with an impressive Rs 18 crore on Day 1, but failed to maintain the momentum. According to Sacnilk, the film’s earnings sharply declined—dropping nearly 58% on Friday—with only a mild weekend recovery. By Day 7, the total stood at Rs 44.44 crore, a clear sign of its faltering grip on audiences.
Directed by Jersey fame Gowtam Tinnanuri, Kingdom follows Constable Surya “Suri”, played by Deverakonda, who is drawn into an undercover mission in Sri Lanka. The twist? His own brother is part of a dark political conspiracy. The movie blends action with emotional drama but was criticized for lacking deeper emotional connection with characters.
Despite a solid concept, the film couldn’t sustain traction through weekdays—earning just Rs 2 crore by Monday, and similar figures in the days that followed.
In brighter news, Kingdom made headlines for 100,000 advance ticket bookings, and now all eyes are on its OTT release. Netflix has reportedly bagged the digital rights, though the streaming date remains under wraps.
The cast includes Bhagyashri Borse, Satya Dev, and Ayyappa P Sharma. While not a box office blockbuster, Kingdom is still seen as a significant entry in Deverakonda’s filmography.
