The much-awaited action thriller War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, has sparked nationwide excitement as advance bookings opened, generating a staggering ₹2.08 crore in India within hours.
Despite limited Telugu-dubbed screenings, early figures from trade tracker Sacnilk show over ₹1.2 crore in sales within the first days, reflecting high audience anticipation. Yash Raj Films (YRF) announced the booking launch on Instagram with the tagline: “Unstoppable action. Unmatched entertainment… releasing August 14 in Hindi, Telugu & Tamil!”
Directed by Ayan Mukerji, the film will release in 5,000 Hindi-only theatres on August 14. Hindi 2D bookings have sold roughly 7,535 tickets across 2,233 shows, earning ₹30.11 lakh, while Hindi IMAX shows added ₹87,000. The Telugu version contributed ₹72,000 from 20 shows, and Tamil-dubbed screenings earned ₹1.33 lakh from 78 shows with 858 tickets sold.
States like Maharashtra, Delhi, and West Bengal lead in early bookings. Analysts expect steady growth as release day nears, though the film faces stiff competition from Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie starring Rajinikanth, which currently tops advance ticket charts.
Overseas pre-sales began last week. The Telugu version gained traction quickly in the US, but Hindi bookings started slower.
War 2 sees Hrithik reprise his role as Kabir, a rogue R&AW operative, now up against a formidable new enemy played by Jr NTR. Kiara Advani joins the franchise as the female lead, replacing Vaani Kapoor.
