Mangaluru: The Anti Pollution Drive (APD) Foundation in association with the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of P A Polytechnic conducted a Plastic Free Drive on February 22 in the college campus at Konaje, Mangaluru.
About 200 students of the college participated in the camp. Ruhia Hussein, General Manager-Communications of APD Foundation was the resource person for the camp. She briefed the students about the harmful impact on the environment caused by the use of plastic and advised them regarding the ways and means to make one’s environment plastic free.
Presiding over the function, Principal of the College Prof. K P Soofi emphasised on the need to reduce the use of plastic in everyday life. Dhanush Desai, a member of APD Foundation was also present on the occasion. NSS Co-ordinator of the college, Marzooq Ahmed introduced the guests. Students of the college Farheen and Safnaaz compered the programme and proposed a vote of thanks respectively.
After the formal function, the student volunteers picked the plastic waste and cleaned the campus.
