‘Jeevanvileena’ walkathon to create awareness on organ donation

Mangaluru: AJ Hospital and Research Centre on Wednesday, October 8 organized a walkathon as part of its 20-day ‘Jeevanvileena’ awareness campaign on organ donation.

Srividya, CEO of Zilla Panchayat flagged off the walkathon at Mangaluru City Corporation.

NSS students of Government College took part in the rally which concluded at AJ Hospital.

Addressing the gathering Srividya said, “Organ donation is not very common in this region but with awareness programmes like rallies, street plays, it could be spread among people. AJ Hospital has taken a great job in spreading such awareness. By donating your organs, you help another person and you give life to another person.”

Dr Prashanth Maarla briefed the crowd about the campaign and said that ‘Jeevanvileena’ is to spread awareness about organ donation in Mangaluru city.

Vineetha Rai, NSS programme coordinator and others were also present.

The campaign will culminate on October 10 with a valedictory ceremony.
