Kanachur IMS hosts Australian Med Parliament Delegation

Mangaluru: Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences hosted an interaction with Med Parliament delegates from Australia on November 2, 2022, at the Kanachur Auditorium.

The discussions were around the opportunity for collaboration in education, discussing strategies, case studies and emerging approaches to the transformation of pre-hospital care, identifying future-facing practical skills that could be enhanced; into the establishment of Human BioBank and in a niche area on how to get your best smile by an AI tool.

The delegation consisted of high-profile accomplished Medical Scientists, Founders, CEO and Design innovators of various organizations to help the health industry pioneer in healthcare – operating in areas including digital health, diagnostics, genomics and newer avenues.

The Medachievers – Med Parliament team consisted of:

– Dr Harsha Vardhan, Group Managing Director, Medachievers Group of companies.
– Mr Micheal Koss, Director, Digitology Healthtech
– Prof. Mark Parsons, Titan Director & Chairman, Australian stroke alliance clinical council, Professor of Medicine & Neurology at UNSW southwestern Sydney, clinical school & senior staff specialist in Neurology Liverpool Hospital.
– Dr Damien Easton, Titan Board Director & Chief of Research Strategy, Australian Stroke Alliance, Director of strategy at the Melbourne brain centre at the Royal Melbourne Hospital
– Prof Andrew Bivard, Titan Director and Chief Technology Officer Australian Stroke Alliance, Associate Professor of Neuroimaging at the University of Melbourne & Head of the Neuroimaging unit at the Melbourne brain centre, Royal Melbourne Hospital

Dr Harsha Vardhan, in his session, cited that covid 19 pandemic showed the need for collaboration between various medical sectors! Med Parliament has a vision of joining hands with Indian hospitals both government and private for better diagnosis & treatment in medical fields across India.

Prof. Mark Parsons & Dr Damien Easton had developed a mobile stroke care unit which can be incorporated in the ambulance & helps in easy diagnosis & preliminary treatment of stroke patients – thus improving pre-hospital TAT and care and thus the overall outcome.

Dr Padma Gadiyar, Founder & CEO Smilo.Ai who is a Mangalorean settled in Australia has developed a software app which mainly focuses on digitalised dental health care.

Dr Bruce Ingram OAM has designed the retractable syringe to avoid needle prick injury in paramedics and nurses during their care – thus bringing down the incidences of Needle Stick Injuries.

Mr Nick Howard had designed & built the smart medicine dispenser which has pre-recorded data & upon biometric activation can dispense the medicines to the user at the correct intervals of time.

Dr George Muchnicki, has designed the biobank – genomics. This instrument helps in the storage of genetic material post-extraction & for experimental studies too. Can be used to diagnose diseases from the cradle to the grave.

The event was presided over by Haji U K Monu, Chairman, of Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences.
Mr Abdul Rahiman, Director, of Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences welcomed the delegation and the Kanachur team. He expressed the beauty of Mangalore and related to food and cuisine too and how Mangalore is a healthcare education hub with an amazing amount of resources.

Dr Col K G Kiran, Dean, Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences in his keynote address expressed in detail the journey and the accolades of Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences, Kanachur Hospital & Research Centre, Kanachur College of Physiotherapy, Kanachur College of Nursing Sciences & Kanachur Institute of Allied Health Sciences very explicitly.

Dr Rohan S.Monis, Chief Administrative Medical Officer, Kanachur Hospital and Research Centre candidly thanked the elite team of medical thinkers and health experts for their visit.

Dr Harish Shetty – Medical Superintendent, Kanachur Hospital & Research Centre, Suhail Khan – Dean, Kanachur Institute of Allied Health Sciences and Dr Iftikar Ali – President, Indian Association of Physiotherapy (Karnataka Chapter) were on the dais.

The meeting was attended by Principals, Heads of Departments, Doctors, Postgraduates and students of medical and allied too. Their interaction was great and the delegation expressed their happiness too.
The meeting ended with the Indian National Anthem.
