Mangalore: The Kannada Department of P. Dayananda Pai – P. Sathish Pai First Grade Government College and Innovation Club of University College Mangaluru jointly organised Kuvempu’s 112th birth anniversary on Tuesday.
Innovation Club Vice President Dr Siddaraju, in his introductory speech, recalled ‘Panchamantras’- Manujamatha, Vishwapatha, Sarvodaya, Samanvaya, and Poornadrusti of Kuvempu. As a part of the program, introduction of poems, poetry recitation, poetry criticism etc. The students recited self-written poems and poems of Kuvempu.
Vrinda presented an illustrated introduction to Kuvempu’s biography. Gautami, Chetan, Melarin, Spoorthi, Anusha R, Madura, Anusha K D, Vijayalakshmi, Sharan Kumar, Anupriya and others participated in the concert. The principal of the college, Rajashekhara Hebbar opined that poet-philosopher Kuvempu is always relevant.
Kannada Department Assistant Professor Dr Ravikumara M.P drew the attention with the song “O nanna chethana” with the welcome. Vrinda mastered the ceremony.
