Mangaluru: Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing (LMCN) held a lamp lighting ceremony welcoming its 19th batch of BSc (Nursing) and 21st batch of General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM) students at the auditorium of AJ institute of Medical Science on Thursday, November 17.
Dr B A Yathi Kumara Swamy Gowda, Principal, Alva’s College of Nursing, Moodabidri, who was the Chief Guest congratulated the students. He said, “Nursing is a life-long commitment. Nurses are the largest group of health care professionals in the world. To be a successful nursing professional, you should learn by watching others, inspire a shared vision, and question the process to be clear, give a team effort and encourage each other to deliver your best”.
He further advised the new students to advice neighbors and friends to join the nursing field. There are a lot of opportunities for nurses nowadays, he said.
Dr. Larissa Martha Sams, Principal, Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing asked the students to work hard with dedication and sincerity and provide the best service to the humankind. Ashritha P. Shetty, Director, Laxmi Memorial Education Trust presided over the function and motivated students to thoroughly utilize the opportunities and resources provided to them by the management.
Earlier, Dr Theresa Leonalda Mendonsa, Vice-Principal, LMCN, welcomed the gathering. The Chief Guest and the principal lighted the lamp and paid homage to Florence Nightingale. The students too lighted candles and took oath.
