Muller’s College of Speech and Hearing to celebrate 10th anniversary

Mangaluru: The Father Muller College of Speech and Hearing, is one of the last colleges of the renowned Father Muller Charitable Institutions and was started in the year 2007. It is now celebrating its Decennial Year as reported by the Director Rev. Fr. Richard Aloysius Coelho.

The Decennial Year Finale Celebrations will be held on January 13 at 10 am, at the Father Muller Convention Center. Dr. N Shivashankar, Professor and HOD of Speech Pathology and Audiology, NIMHANS, Bangaluru, will be the Chief Guest and Rt. Rev. Msgr. Denis Moras Prabhu, Vicar General, Mangalore Diocese and Vice President, FMCI will be the preside over the function.

Father Muller Charitable Institutions, was established in 1880 under the leadership of Rev. Fr. Augustus Muller, in Kankanady, at the heart of Mangaluru. The tireless efforts of the founder and manifold blessings of God Almighty has enabled the institution to spread its wings, giving shelter to various medical and paramedical colleges.

The outpatient department of speech and hearing began in 1984 as a part of the ENT Department. In the year 2007, under the able leadership of late Rev. Fr. Patrick Rodrigues and the then Dean of Medical College, Dr. B Sanjeev Rai with the nomenclature of “Father Muller College” got affiliated to the Mangalore University and received RCI recognition.

Within a short span of 10 years the college has made its existence felt by getting NAAC accreditation, NABH and 2(f) and 12(B) States from the UGC. The college is second in India and the only college under the Mangalore University to receive this great honor. They have also received permanent affiliation from the Mangalore University.

In the last 10 years the college has undertaken various activities like:
1. Faculty development programme
2. Students progression and success activities
3. Organizing conference and seminars.
4. Public Awareness Programme
5. Research Activities

The college which began with just 3 students, has made steady progress over the last 10 years and now accommodates 33 students in a batch. Today the college joyfully celebrates 10 successful years of blessings and growth.
