Centre for Sustainable Energy Engineering (CSEE)

Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Cabinet Minister for Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship in the Government of India, visited the bio-waste recycling plant on NITK campus (A facility for converting campus garbage into biogas), during his visit to NITK’s 20th annual convocation event. The minister expressed his delight that NITK Surathkal is contributing to national initiatives to promote #WasteToWealth and a circular economy. During the press conference, the minister remarked, “I congratulate & appreciate the CSR Project Head (Maire Tecnimont, Italy), Dr. Vasudeva Madav, and Team for working on projects connected to Sustainable Energy.  In Indian culture, sustainability has always been a pillar.  For the green transition, our academic institutions require initiatives like these” he said.

During the same, Shri Pradhan urged NITK to establish a fully-fledged Sustainable Energy Department in order to make the NITK Surathkal a national leader in energy transition within a decade. Hence, a Centre for Sustainable Energy Engineering is established.

The development of a dedicated Centre for Sustainable Energy Engineering at the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) would give a platform for students to obtain knowledge and experience in sustainable energy engineering, allowing them to find innovative solutions to the world’s energy challenges. CSEE would also provide researchers with a unique avenue to collaborate and share their field-specific expertise.
