Mangalore: Computers were invented by human beings. Artificial intelligence is being developed by humans. Those hacking it are human too. So no technology is greater than the human brain, opined Govindadas College retired librarian Balakrishna K.

Delivering a special lecture on reading habits as part of Dr S. R. Ranganathan Memorial Day at Ravindra Kalabhavana of University College Mangalore here on Tuesday, he added that youth should read more books and dictionaries. It is more important to meditate than to read and understand.

Principal Dr Anasuya Rai presided over the program. “Be it arts, commerce or science, for everyone reading is important and it’s the best way to increase knowledge. Dr S. R. Ranganathan, who is known as the ‘father of the library’ had worked as a librarian in our college, which is a matter of pride,” she said.

Librarian Dr Vanaja welcomed all, and IQAC Coordinator Dr Siddaraju M. N. extended a vote of thanks. On the occasion, Vasanthi, who served as a library staff for 23 years, was honoured.

*National Sports Day*
Hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand’s birth anniversary was observed as National Sports Day. Physical Education Department Head Dr Keshavamurthy explained the significance of the day. NSS Program Officer Dr Suresh administered an oath reminding us of our commitment towards our health. Principal Dr Anasuya Rai delivered the presidential speech.
