Mangaluru: VTU Consortium E-Resources Training Programme 2023-24 for Faculty, Research Scholars and Library Professionals of VTU Regional PG Centres and Affiliated colleges, was held at Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management Mangaluru on 24 Nov 2023.
The inauguration was held in the presence of Dr T N Sreenivasa, Registration-Evaluation, VTU Belagavi on the online mode, while the others Dr Somaraya B Tallolli, Librarian and Coordinator VTU Consortium, VTU Belagavi; Dr Manjappa S, Director-R and D and Consultancy; Dr S S Injaganeri, Principal and Dr Bharathi, Librarian and convener of the program inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp.
Dr SS Injaganeri, welcoming the gathering mentioned that he felt honoured to be a part of this transformative initiative, bridging traditional knowledge with the digital frontier.
Dr Somaraya B Tallolli said – “Embracing the digital wave in education is crucial”. Sharing the importance of the programme, he mentioned that E-resources are the key to unlocking a world of knowledge and how this training programme will become a gateway to that future.
Dr Manjappa S, in his presidential remarks, appreciated the efforts of the librarians in making this event possible and expressed how happy he was to host this event of VTU in the Sahyadri campus.
The day-long programme included sessions from the publishers – M S Srinivasa IEEE Training Manager, EBSCO Information Services; Vinay Srinivas, Regional Sales Manager – E Resources Karnataka/Srilanka and Sub Saharan Africa – Taylor and Francis; S Vinay Kumar, Senior Business Manager, Emerald Publishing India; Nithin Ghoshal, Elsevier Science Direct; Kiran M -Springer Nature; Sreejith Shashidharan, Account Manager South India, ProQuest; Arjun Nair, Assistant Manager, Product Trainer, Knimbus Digital library platform and Arjun, DrillBit Plagiarism Software.
During the Valedictory Ceremony, Participation Certificates were distributed and opinions from the participants and the publishers were obtained on the day-long programme. Dr Bharathi, Librarian and convener of the program shared the vote of thanks.
A hundred and twenty Library professionals, faculty and research Scholars from the colleges of the region benefitted from the programme.
