Mangaluru: St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor, (SJEC) successfully organized its third workshop of the “Life skills workshop series – 2023” titled “Basic Life Support for Adult and Child” on 4 Aug 2023 at Fr Fred Hall from 3 to 5 pm. The Program began with a brief introduction of the domain expert, Dr Ritesh Joseph D’Cunha, Assistant Professor, Department of Anesthesiology, Coordinator, Father Muller Simulation and Skill Centre, and Dr Shannon Fernandes. Associate professor, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Father Muller’s Medical College. Mangaluru.
Rev. Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Director, SJEC, Dr Purushothama Chippar, Vice Principal and Dean R&D and Dr Prakash Pinto, Dean-MBA were present on this occasion. The resource persons then explained to the students the steps to be followed during emergency situations of cardiac attacks for adults and children respectively.
A total of 50 participants were present which included both staff and students.
At the end of the program, every participant was given the opportunity to demonstrate Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), which is an emergency procedure that can help save a person’s life if their breathing or heart stops, on the CPR training mannequins.
At the end of the session, participants shared their experiences and valuable feedback regarding the workshop and appreciated the efforts put in by the institution in coming up with these useful life skills initiatives for the students at SJEC. The domain experts were felicitated with mementoes as a token of gratitude for sharing their knowledge with the students. The workshop witnessed the active participation of a few teaching staff and technical staff of SJEC AICTE IDEA lab.
