Mangaluru: Joshiana 8.0 is back with a surfeit of events ranging from programming contests, innovative product launch and managerial challenges.
The fest started by invoking the Almighty’s blessings with a prayer song sung by the choir group of the college and lighting the lamp.
The dignitaries present on the stage were Dr. Niranjan U C, Director of Research and Training, Manipal Dot Net Pvt Ltd; Rev. Fr. Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Director, SJEC; Rev. Fr. Rohith D’Costa, Asst Director, SJEC; Dr. Joseph Gonsalvis, Principal, SJEC; Dr. Rio D’Souza, Vice Principal ,SJEC; Sumangala N, HoD-MCA, SJEC; Hareesh B, Convener of the fest; Gururaja S, Co-Convener of the Fest; Nagma G, President, Joshiana 8.0, SJEC and Shwetha Vasta, Secretary, Joshiana 8.0.
The welcome address was given by Nagma G.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Niranjan U C stated, “Technology without love and humility is of no use. Technology has made our lives comfortable while automation has increased job insecurity.”
He advised youngsters to remain focused to achieve their goals and to enjoy their journey even if it doesn’t turn fruitful.
Further, he added that several students ask his opinion on which college they should choose to pursue engineering in coastal Karnataka and his suggestion to them is to join St.Joseph’s as the institution has seen immense growth over the years.
Speaking on the occasion, Joseph Gonsalvis, Principal SJEC said, “We have put in 99 percent of hard work to achieve the result which is 1 percent.”
In his address, Fr. Wilfred said that he was happy to be a part of Joshiana 8.0 which he termed was a beautiful opportunity for all to grow further. Further, he said that he was very happy that Niranjan could make it to the event. Niranjan is an inspiration to our young generation. He spoke about values and not about his achievements, said Fr.Wilfred adding that only efforts would get us success.
Shwetha Vasta proposed a vote of thanks.
Several events such as Interfaccia (Web Designing), Alchemy (Coding), Melioration (App Development), Renderlt (Video Editing), Tech-Combo (Mega Event), FreeBooters (Treasure Hunt), TechTwirl (IT Quiz), TechVibe (Culturals),Tech Supreme (Best IT Manager), Unflustered (IT Parliament) will be held during the two-day fest.
