Bengaluru: The SIT team probing the murder of journalist, activist Gauri Lankesh has managed to get a facial profile of her assailant done and a lookout for him has been launched.

The image that has been developed based on the CCTV footages of a camera located between her office to residence matches with the descriptions given by few eyewitnesses and will act as a major breakthrough for the SIT team.

The team that had also scrutinised CCTV camera footage from Gauri’s house, which the assailant visited twice before the murder on September 5 shows him riding on a Bajaj Pulsar and a team has been formed to question second-hand bike dealers and collect information from the dealers on people they sold vehicles to.

Meanwhile, The SIT has also sought help from locals as well as lodges since it is believed that the assailant may have been an outsider and may have checked out following the murder.

The police have distributed pamphlets and urged people to inform them about any suspicious person who moved around in the area on September 5 or afterwards. The residents have been asked to share the information with the Rajarajeshwarinagar police on 080-22942559 or on 94808 01725. But the handbill did not mention anything about Gauri’s murder.
