Thirteen luminaries to be crowned with Alva’s Nudisiri 2016 awards

Moodabidri: Thirteen leading luminaries from diverse fields including art, literature and research will be felicitated with Alva’s Nudisiri-2016 awards at a special function to be held in Sundari Alva auditorium at Vidayagiri, Moodabidri. The award carries cash of Rs 25000, citation and memento in recognition of their works and love for Kannada language and culture.

The program will be inaugurated on November 18 and the valedictory function will be on November 20.

The list of luminaries and their field of work is as follows:
1. Giraddi Govindaraju – for Literature (Winner of Karnataka Rajyotsava, Sahitya Academy and Nataka academy awards)
2. Subraya Chokkadi – for Poetry and drama
3. Dr.Chennanna Walikara – For poetry, story writing, research and drama (Winner of Karanataka Janapada, Yakshagana and Sahitya academy awards)
4. Dr. K R Sandhya Reddy – Columnist, for small stories and biography (Winner of Karnataka Janapada Academy award)
5. G N Rangantha Rao – for News editing and writing
6. Akshara K V – Stage artist (Winner of Karnataka Sahitya academy award, Naataka academy fellowship and Kendra Sangeetha Nataka academy award)
7. Harini – For Acting and production (Film ‘NAANDHI’ won national award and ‘Namma Makkalu’ in which she acted won a filmfare award)
8. Srinivasa Kappanna – Stage artist and Dramatist
9. Sampaje Seenappa Rai – for Yakshagana
10. Jabbar Samo – for Yakshagana traditional instrumentation and research
11. H R Leelavathi – for carnatic music and composition
12. Dr. Darbe Chandrashekar Chowta (Dr.D C Chowta) – Agriculture scholar
13. Dr. G.Jnanananda – for art research

The listed luminaries will be honoured at 4pm on November 20 during the valedictory function of the three-day long programme beginning, November 18. The arrangements for the programme are almost complete and the visitors can feast on the innumerable entertainment events lined up. They include Krishisiri, Chitrasiri, Chayachitrasiri, Vidyathisiri and Cinesiri. Fruit, vegetable and fish exhibition along with plethora of on stage performances will be part of the mega event.

For students, the entry will be free during the event, whereas others have to pay a nominal fee of Rs 100 to avail snacks and accommodation.

The organizers have invited Kananda language enthusiasts to witness the event in large numbers to make Alva’s Nudisiri 2016, a grand success.
