University College Mangalore releases ‘Mangalasiri’, a Magazine by students

Mangalore: As the film is a powerful medium and it should be used effectively. A powerful script is the whole and soul of a movie, opined Sudhir Shanbhog.

Addressing the gathering after releasing ‘Mangalasiri’, a magazine by students on an experimental basis and ‘Madake Matadidaaga’, a Kannada short film, at University College Mangalore on Thursday, he continued that script should be aimed at target viewers. Though film can be understood by uneducated, there should be a touch of modern technology.

Presiding over the function, Principal Dr. Uday Kumar M.A, our day-to-day activities can be a subject for a movie. With the help of knowledge gained by watching movies, documentaries and advertisements, we can use this medium to spread a message, he said.

Meanwhile, the Principal felicitated Vishwas Adyar, the Director of the short film. Editors of the short film Nidhi Rai and Vinay from Final Cut productions, Journalism Department Head Dr. Ganapathi Gowada, lecturers Guruprasad T N, Mahantesh Hiremath, Media Club Secretary Pavan Kumar were present. 

About the short movie:
The old student of University College Vishwas Adyar directed the around 20-minute short movie. 12 students of the college acted in prime roles of the film. The film sends a message to youth regarding the domination of urban culture on pottery and a possible solution. The film was shot in Mangalore city and surrounding areas.
