One doesn’t have to look far away to help someone in need, expressed Vivek Gowda, CEO of Blink films. “Humanity stands first and everyone should come forward to help their neighbours who are in desperate need during the pandemic,” he added.

Vivek and his friends have distributed food kits to 475 families in the remote places of Karnataka. The team has covered great distance to reach the most deserving people and have given these kits that will last a family up to 30 days.

“Instead of saying we gave a kit, we like to say that we helped a family and these kits consist of rice and 13 other items,” explained Vivek.

The idea had started when Joel from Kuwait, a client of Vivek had sent him Rs. 15,000 to buy necessary things for the needy. He added more money to the amount and finally decided to distribute kits to 50 houses. “We didn’t have any intention to increase the number of kits. We just wanted to make sure that these kits were reaching the most deserving people in the community,” he said.

Vivek explained that the 50 houses were selected after seeing the condition of the people there and said that some of them are Beedi workers who have lost their jobs. “It took us 4 to 5 days to figure out how to go about with it but finally we located houses in Villages like Ira and Vogga,” Vivek said.

The team had put out a WhatsApp status to know whether there are any houses which require help and this was done also to provide inspiration. This step garnered a lot of positive attention from people who stepped in to provide money for this initiative. They collected up to Rs. 3.7 lakh and distributed the food kits to houses in 30 villages.

“Even though it was a very difficult task to reach the various houses, we personally gave all these kits to them,” he said. The team have travelled rocky terrains, muddy roads and crossed waters to reach these houses.
