Mangaluru: Ahead of the annual feast of St Lawrence Church, Bondel, a ‘Hore Kanike’ procession with scores of devotees, was held in the city on Wednesday, July 31.
Former Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo flagged off the procession at the Mount Carmel School ground, Mary Hill which culminated at the St Lawrence Church premises. Parish priest Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza receiving the offerings.
Rev. Fr Cyril Lobo, asst parish priest of the shrine conducted the prayer service.
On all the days of devotion this year, starting from August 1 and ending with the feast on August 10, the devotees will be offered lunch and blessed bread in the evenings. In addition, a festive lunch will be offered after the festal mass. The church and its surroundings have been decorated with lights by the feast committee and various organisations contributed their offerings in ‘Hore Kanike’ procession.
