Lourdes Central School Holds LCS Science Week 2023

Mangaluru: The department of Science of Lourdes Central School, organised ‘LCS Science week- 2023’ at LCS from 11to 15 December for the students of class I to X under the theme “Young Scientist”.

The aims and objectives of the week were to promote thinking out of the box, to develop scientific temperament, to enhance the presentation and communication skills and to develop a scientific spirit and curiosity in students.

Inauguration: The science week was inaugurated on 11 Dec 2023  during the morning assembly. The programme began with the prayer. Principal Rev. Fr Robert D’Souza and vice principal Anita Thomas and Belita Mascarenhas along with the faculty of the science department symbolically inaugurated the science week by operating the rocket which was designed and built by Seanna Rodrigues, Maquin Rodrigues and Saanvi Rai, the students of class IX. To make the programme more cheerful and interesting, students of class VIII presented a song based on science and class X enacted the enumerable benefits and the importance of home remedies.

Principal in his address encouraged the students to take active part in all the activities of science week. Students of class I to XII witnessed the programme. Disha Shetty and Katta Srinidhi of class X compered the programme.

Finale: Finale of the fun filled LCS Science Week was held on 15 Dec by the students of class VI. The programme involved the dance on the discoveries and inventions of the various scientists and a melodious song on being the keepers of the Earth for the Environment, with a message and report of the science week. The finale of science week concluded with the science exhibition for classes IV to VIII. The vice principal Belita Mascarenhas appreciated and congratulated all the students and teachers for their efforts in making the science week a big success. Minal and Shraddha of class VI were compeered the programme.

All the activities were well planned and executed by the wholehearted support of all the teachers of LCS science department under the guidance of the science coordinator  Linet D’Souza.
