Bengaluru: Exciting news for travelers in Bengaluru! The Southern Railway is considering introducing a semi-high-speed Vande Bharat Express train between Bengaluru and Ernakulam on weekends. This move aims to manage the anticipated rush during the upcoming Deepavali festival.
The proposed train is an extension of the weekend Bengaluru-Chennai and Chennai-Bengaluru services. If approved, the train will depart from Bengaluru at 4 am on Friday, reaching Ernakulam junction by 1:30 pm. It will make its return journey by 2 pm the same day and reach Bengaluru by 10 pm. The service might also operate on Saturday and Sunday, pending approval from higher authorities.
But that’s not all! Karnataka might also witness the introduction of another Vande Bharat Express, this time connecting Mangaluru and Goa. This train is expected to become operational by the end of this year.
Nalin Kumar Kateel, a prominent BJP leader and Dakshina Kannada MP, shared the positive news. He confirmed that the railway minister has assured the introduction of a Vande Bharat Express train for coastal Karnataka, connecting Goa and Mangaluru. Moreover, plans have been approved for early morning trains from Subrahmanya Road station to Mangaluru and evening trains from Mangaluru to Subrahmanya Road.
Currently, Bengaluru already boasts Vande Bharat trains connecting various destinations, including Chennai, Mysuru, Hubbali-Dharwad, and Hyderabad.
