Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district branch of Indian Redcross Society had a unique opportunity to meet with the President of India Ram Nath Kovind on October 8 during his visit to Mangaluru.
Dr. K.V. Rajendra IAS, Deputy Commissioner, D.K. was extremely helpful to facilitate the meeting.
IRCS members briefed him about the various activities we had undertaken during COVID-19.
President Kovind immensely appreciated the vaccination project especially, the house to house vaccination taken up by our branch for the bedridden and aged.
During the discussion, he noted that Red Cross volunteers have indulged in invaluable service to the community all over India. The meeting which lasted nearly 15 minutes was a matter of pride to the Red Cross. C.A. Shantharam Shetty, Chairman, S. A. Prabhakar Sharma Secretary, IRCS DK and Yathish Baikampady, State Management Committee Member were present.
To commemorate the visit of the President to Mangaluru, IRCS had presented a memento – a painting by a well-known artist of Mangaluru B. Ganesha Somayaji.
