Mangaluru: The St Anthony’s Ashram in Jeppu held the Way of the Cross on Sunday, March 24, at their grounds in remembrance of the passion and death Jesus Christ to redeem humanity from the chains of sin.
Rev Fr Santhosh Lobo, Parish Priest of Our Lady of Dolours Church, Kasargod, preached a homily on the need to follow in the footsteps of Jesus Christ if we wish to be called His followers. “While we conduct the devotion of the Way of the Cross, it is necessary to walk the way of the cross in our life when difficulties come our way, by submitting ourselves to the will of God,” he said.
Prem Kumar and team conducted the Way of the Cross, where more than 500 people participated in the devotion.
Fr Onil D’Souza, the director of Ashram, thanked all those who participated and all those to conduct the devotion.
The season of Lent began for the Christian community on March 6, with the Ash Wednesday. Lent is a period of 40 days and is observed in remembrance of 40 years of the Israelites journey in the desert before they reached the Promised Land and the Jesus’ forty days of fasting and prayer before He began His public life. The season of Lent is a season of cleansing; it’s a season of grace which involves fasting, giving up pleasures and practising almsgiving.
