Beer drinkers in Haryana are in for a rude shock as the state’s new Excise Policy 2025–2027 is set to push alcohol prices sharply upwards starting June 12.
According to Hindustan Times, Indian beer prices will rise by 55%, while imported beers will see a 45% hike. The cost of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and Imported Foreign Liquor (IFL) will also increase by 15–20%.
Sharp Spike in Popular Beer Brands
Here’s a look at how the new prices will hit your wallet:
-
Kingfisher Ultra (650ml): ₹90 → ₹140
Corona / Amstel pint: ₹200 → ₹290
Budweiser / Carlsberg (330ml): ₹75 → ₹120
500ml beer can: ₹90 → ₹130
Imported liquors aren’t spared either.
-
Absolut Vodka (750ml): ₹1,200 → ₹1,500
Glenlivet (750ml): ₹3,200 → ₹3,800
Why the Hike?
Officials say the revised prices aim to:
-
Align with pricing in neighbouring states
Encourage consumption of Indian-made alcohol over imported labels
Maximise revenue from alcohol sales
Gurugram (West) Deputy Excise and Taxation Commissioner confirmed the increase and emphasized that the revised structure is meant to promote fair pricing while boosting government revenue.
Beer fans may want to stock up before June 12 — your next pint is going to cost a lot more.
