Odisha: On Monday afternoon, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who also manages the finance portfolio, will present the state’s budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 in the assembly. Last year, he unveiled a budget of ₹2.65 lakh crore for 2024-25, and this year’s figures are expected to climb to around ₹3 lakh crore, according to sources.

The state government is anticipated to allocate substantial funds to its key programs, including the Subhadra Yojana, a comprehensive health assurance/insurance scheme, Samruddha Krushak Yojana, and the Godabarish Mishra Adarsha Prathamik Vidyalaya scheme, among others.

Agriculture is likely to receive the highest priority, followed closely by health and education sectors in the budget. As the government has already rolled out numerous projects for infrastructure and communication advancements, it is expected to channel additional funds into these initiatives.

To ensure broad public involvement, the state government had previously solicited suggestions from citizens regarding the budget planning process. These inputs may shape the allocations and policy decisions in the upcoming financial year.

With the focus on sustaining growth and expanding vital sectors, the state’s budget is poised to reflect its commitment to comprehensive development.
