The Punjab government will present its 2025-26 Budget in the Vidhan Sabha on March 26. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s Cabinet has approved the eighth session of the 16th Punjab Vidhan Sabha from March 21 to 28, with the Governor’s address scheduled for March 21, followed by discussions.

‘English for Work’ Program Extended

The government has renewed its MoU with the British Council to continue the ‘English for Work’ initiative for two more years (2025-27). Initially launched as a pilot project for 5,000 students, this program enhances English-speaking skills to improve job opportunities for government college students.

Launch of Hunar Sikhiya Schools

The Punjab Cabinet has approved the Hunar Sikhiya Schools (School of Applied Learning) to equip students with technical education and job-ready skills. 40 schools will be set up at an estimated cost of ₹32 crore, offering training in:
Banking, Financial Services & Insurance
Digital Design & Development
Beauty & Wellness
Healthcare Sciences & Services

Additionally, three foundational courses will be introduced, covering:
🔹 Functional English
🔹 Career Readiness (soft skills, CV writing, professionalism)
🔹 Technology in Everyday Life (emails, digital tools, work planning)

These initiatives aim to boost youth employment and modernize Punjab’s education sector.
