In Kalaburagi, Nimberga village has witnessed public outrage after 160 residents fell ill due to contaminated water consumption since last Sunday. Those affected are currently receiving treatment at the community health centre and taluk hospital.
B R Patil, political adviser to the chief minister and Aland MLA, visited the village to address the villagers’ grievances and set a 24-hour deadline for officials to resolve the issue. Taluk panchayat executive officer Manappa Kattimani assured that all water tanks would be cleaned and damaged pipes repaired by Thursday.
Residents expressed frustration over the turbid water supplied from the village’s sole water source, which had been ongoing for several days. Gram panchayat member Sharanappa Dange highlighted that complaints had been ignored until the situation escalated. Patil emphasized the need for immediate action and promised accountability for negligent officials, stating, “It is our duty to protect people’s health.”
