Health officials in Belagavi conducted extensive raids across the city and various taluks, uncovering a network of fake hospitals and fraudulent doctors. Led by District Health Officer Dr. Mahesh Koni and Taluk Health Officer Dr. Sanjay Dummagol, the operations targeted several establishments engaging in illegal medical practices.

One of the targeted hospitals, Mulla Hospital in Kerur village, Chikkodi taluk, was found operated by Riyaz Mulla, who posed as a doctor despite lacking formal medical qualifications beyond his Pre-University Course (PUC). Authorities seized the hospital, and Mulla was sentenced to one week in jail along with a fine of one lakh rupees.

At Shiva Hospital in Badakal Galli, Belagavi city, Dr. S. Devanagamvi was caught dispensing Ayurvedic medicine under the false claim of holding an MBBS degree. The hospital was issued a notice, and Ayurvedic medicines were seized.

Similarly, Guru Krupa Hospital in Chavat Galli, Belagavi city, was found operating without proper authorization during subsequent raids. The hospital owner, Umesh Acharya, received a notice for further action regarding unauthorized medical equipment found on-site, including x-ray machines.

These raids highlight ongoing efforts to curb healthcare fraud and ensure public safety in Belagavi district.
