In a suicide incident in Hanakere village, Mandya, a 14-year-old girl named Impana, a Class 9 student at Viveka Vidyasamsthe, took her own life by hanging at her residence on Sunday. Her father, Srinivas, has filed a complaint with the Mandya Rural police, alleging that Impana’s suicide was a result of harassment by four minor boys.

According to the complaint, the boys—two from Hanakere village, one from Kachchigere village, and another from Mallaianadoddi village—persistently harassed Impana, pressuring her to accept the affection of one of them. Over the past two days, these boys allegedly targeted her at the sports ground where student events are held, causing her immense distress.

Unable to endure the continuous harassment, Impana took the extreme step of ending her life. The Mandya Rural police have registered a case and are currently investigating the allegations. This incident has brought to light the severe impact of bullying and harassment on young individuals, prompting a call for increased awareness and preventive measures.
