Bengaluru: Basavaraj, a 28-year-old pharmacist from Maruthinagar in Chikkabanavara, has been arrested by the Soladevanahalli police for allegedly molesting a 21-year-old nursing college student on July 30. The student, originally from West Bengal and in her fourth semester of BSc nursing, reported the incident occurring near Sapthagiri College in ABG Layout around 9 pm.

According to her complaint, Basavaraj touched her inappropriately while she was walking on the footpath. Despite her attempt to flee, he kissed her before escaping on his bike, which he had parked nearby. Police traced the bike’s registration number from CCTV footage, leading to Basavaraj’s arrest. He has been sent to Central Prison, Parappana Agrahara.

A senior officer noted that Basavaraj had previously harassed another girl in the same area, who had not reported the incident. Authorities are investigating whether he is linked to other similar incidents reported in Peenya, Bagalagunte, and Soladevanahalli.
