BJP State President B.Y. Vijayendra has strongly criticized the Congress-led Karnataka government for its mishandling of the maternal deaths at Ballari Government Medical College Hospital. Seven pregnant women and one child have tragically lost their lives, with Vijayendra accusing the state of gross negligence, including the use of IV glucose sourced from a blacklisted company.

Speaking to the media at the BJP state office, Vijayendra called for a judicial inquiry into the incident and demanded compensation for the families of the victims. He also criticized Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao and Medical Education Minister Sharan Prakash Patil for their failure to visit the affected hospital and address the tragedy. He announced that BJP leaders Narayanaswamy and N. Ravikumar would approach the Lokayukta for accountability.

Vijayendra also slammed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for attending the Congress’ Janakalyana Conference in Hassan instead of focusing on the crisis at Ballari. In addition to the maternal death issue, Vijayendra highlighted the severe distress faced by farmers in the Kalyana Karnataka region, particularly in Bidar, Kalaburagi, Yadgiri, and Raichur districts, where crop losses have been substantial due to disease and unfavorable conditions.

He urged the state government to conduct a comprehensive survey to assess the damage to crops and provide necessary compensation to the affected farmers.
