As he nears his milestone 50th birthday, Bengaluru’s well-known heart specialist Dr. Deepak Krishnamurthy has decided to slow down—just a little—by shifting focus from treating patients to healing himself. Taking a partial sabbatical, the respected cardiologist announced on social media that he’s making space in his schedule to prioritise fitness and overall well-being.

Though still available for consultations at RxDx Clinic, Dr. Krishnamurthy is devoting more time to his health, inspired by the need to regain core strength, flexibility, and improve aerobic fitness. Sharing glimpses of his journey on X (formerly Twitter), he laid out a disciplined routine that includes balanced meals—paneer bhurji instead of eggs, rotis in place of rice, two whey protein scoops, black coffee, and a glass of watermelon juice. He’s steering clear of sugar and tracking every bite.

In terms of physical activity, he’s clocking 6,000 daily steps and dedicating time to weight training, calling it a fulfilling start. His openness about his goals—weight loss, tummy reduction, and fitness improvement—has resonated with many online.

The response has been overwhelmingly positive. Followers offered tips, cheered him on, and appreciated the reminder that self-care matters, especially in demanding professions. With the guidance of nutrition expert and friend Dr. Nandita Iyer, Dr. Krishnamurthy is determined to walk the talk—one step at a time.

His journey is more than just personal—it’s inspiring others to rethink their own health.
